Concealed Handgun Carrier Shoots Suspected Murderer

A Chicago man was shot and is now in the custody of police subsequent to him allegedly killing a woman and injuring two others.

Calvin Gonnigan, 34, is suspected of shooting 3 people, one fatally, on July  4, at 10:45 pm, said authorities. Furthermore, they stated that he approached two men and a woman in an alley and began shooting.

The woman, 45, was pronounced dead at the location. The two men, age 49 and 32, were taken to medical facilities and were in stable condition.

Police say another 49 year-old man observed the occurrence and shot at  Gonnigan, hitting him in the arm and hip. Moreover, the man has a concealed carry holder permit.

Now, Gonnigan faces first-degree murder charges, aggravated assault/ discharge of a firearm, and two counts of attempted murder.
