A man was arrested after shooting his teen son Thursday morning. 
According to Henderson Police the incident happened on the 900 block of Horizon Ridge Parkway and Seven Hills.
Apparently Wendell Melton,53 had been arguing with his son Giovanni Melton,14 allegedly over his sexual preference when Wendell shot his son. Giovanni was rushed to St. Rose Dominican hospital where he later died. 
The victims foster mother Sonja Jones said Melton hated that his son was gay. Jones also went on to say that Giovanni was abused mentally, physically and spiritually for many years and was not living in the home at the time of the murder.
Melton who is a former United Airlines pilot was arrested and taken into Henderson Detention Center facing a murder charge, child abuse and possession of a firearm.
