On Thursday, a teen from Forney, 19-year-old Corey D. Brown-Radford Jr., was given a 50-year prison sentence for the aggravated robbery and shooting of a pregnant woman and a man on July 24, 2022. The incident left the woman paralyzed.

On February 29, 2024, Brown-Radford was found guilty by a Kaufman County Jury.

Evidence presented in court showed that Brown-Radford had gotten his victims to go to Windmill Farms as they believed they were buying a small amount of marijuana.

The shooting happened on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at about 6:24 p.m. in the 9000 block of Lone Cypress Drive in the Windmill Farms community of Forney.

Brown-Radford was let into the car through the backseat to finish the transaction when he began to shoot. After shooting both victims in the back, Brown-Radford fled the scene.

A good samaritan helped and both victims were transported to a medical facility where they survived, including the baby. The female victim is now permanently paralyzed.

A juvenile co-defendant involved in the offense was given a 40-year sentence last year.
