Nicholas John Roske is the suspect identified as plotting to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. He decided not to go through with his plans, close to the justice’s residence. Instead, he called 911 dispatchers and told them that he was in need of “psychiatric help.”

Roske, from Simi Valley, California, had a firearm, ammunition, knife, pepper spray, screwdriver, zip ties, and other equipment when he was apprehended. This occurred on Wednesday, near Kavanaugh’s home, in Maryland.

Roske is facing attempting or threatening to kidnap or murder a U.S. judge, the Department of Justice has noted.

In the 911 call, Roske stated that he had “thoughts” and had traveled from California to carry them out. He added that he planned on harming someone else or himself and had unloaded weapons in his closed suitcase.

Roske also disclosed that he hadn’t had any drugs or alcohol. When the dispatcher questioned whether he needed medical attention, Roske said, “I need psychiatric help.”

He then let the dispatcher know that he had placed his suitcase, with all of the items, away from him. As he was asked why he traveled from California and if he was familiar with anyone, Roske responded, “Brett Kavanaugh..The Supreme Court Justice.”

Roske later told authorities that he was angry about the possibility of the Supreme  Court overruling Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark abortion case. He was also mad about the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and thought that Kavanaugh would vote to have strict gun control laws lessened.

Roske told the dispatcher that he would do whatever authorities wanted him to do, either sit or stand. He added that he had found Kavanaugh’s address in an article that contained a picture of the justice’s home and a street number.

The dispatcher kept talking to Roske until police got to his location.

“They’re here. I’m going to hang up,” Roske said as the call ended.
