Eight years after the vicious death of a college student in Oklahoma a bizarre confession has taken place.

On October 5, 2016, Jennifer Kyli Molloy was discovered deceased at an apartment in Edmond, Oklahoma. During an investigation, there was no information related to the suspect; however, a welfare check has resulted in possible answers.

On Thursday, as an Oklahoma Patrol trooper was checking on Joseph Tyler Beck, next to Interstate 40, the 28-year- old discussed his criminal past.

In October 2016, authorities answered to a call at an apartment complex where the 19-year-old woman’s body was discovered. Since that time, detectives have talked to multiple potential suspects but were never able to apprehend Molloy’s killer. This was until Thursday.

When troopers had gone to do a welfare check on I-40, after someone had called them stating that a person was sitting on the side of the highway, they found Beck. The man then started giving up information about his role in Molloy’s killing.

“It was voluntary. He wasn’t holding anything back. It seemed like he wanted to get everything off his chest,” said a police spokesperson.

Documents show that Beck and Molloy were co-workers at a Subway and were familiar with each other from school. He had also told them that he had intended to rape her at work one day but had changed his mind.

The two had started chatting online, and he had invited himself over to her residence, where he strangled and later killed her.

Beck was taken to the police department to be interviewed and was later apprehended.

He is now being held at the Oklahoma County Detention Center and has been charged with first-degree murder.
