A Georgia man is in custody after he stole a van from a mortuary and led authorities on a police chase Wednesday.
Kijon Griffin,23 stole a mortuary van from a funeral home in Conyers.
While he was leaving the parking lot a deceased body that was strapped on a gurney in the back slid out.
It landed in the parking lot as Griffin continued to drive away.
Authorities spotted Griffin and a chase ensued.
They drove from Conyers to Dekalb County near Wesley Chapel Rd on I-20W.
The driver stopped the vehicle on I-20 after striking multiple vehicles and blowing out a tire.
He then took off on foot towards a wooded area where authorities were unable to locate him.
Griffin eventually turned himself in to Rockdale County Jail Thursday morning.
He is facing multiple charges including entering auto, motor vehicle theft and fleeing and attempting to elude police.
