Married Fourth Grade Teacher, Pregnant With 12-Year-Old’s Baby, Faces Charges For Grooming 21 Students

A married former fourth-grade teacher in Tennessee, who is pregnant with a student’s baby, is now facing charges for grooming 21 children.

38-year-old former elementary school teacher Alissa McCommon was first arrested on September 8, 2023, and charged with rape of a child. Back then, the teacher was said to have groomed and sexually assaulted the then 12-year-old male student for whom she is carrying a baby. However, now she is facing a 23-count indictment for sexual misconduct against almost a dozen other possible minor victims, police say.

More victims have come forward, stating that the teacher befriended them by playing video games with them. She would also contact them through social media apps. This resulted in her sending inappropriate images and asking for sexual relations with the victims, police say.

“Detectives worked closely with th 25th Judicial District Attorney’s Office prosecutors to present evidence in the investigation involving five victims of offenses with substantiating evidence, resulting in twenty-three separate counts. The victims ages ranged from 12 to 17 years of age,” a police report noted.

The new charges filed against the married former fourth-grade teacher include rape of a child and five counts of aggravated statutory rape. She is also charged with four counts of sexual exploitation by electronic means and four counts of solicitation of a minor to commit aggravated statutory rape. In addition to that, she was charged with two counts of aggravated stalking, harassment, and more.

During a court hearing on Monday, McCommon pleaded not guilty. Now, the married former fourth-grade teacher’s attorneys will be combing through documents. This will be to figure out more about the evidence included in the case against her.

McCommon is still being held without bond. She has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation, as well.
