New details released about Lewisville ISD teacher accused of sexually assaulting a child

John Collett, a teacher at  Camey Elementary School, has been arrested and accused of sexually assualting a 10-year-old.

Police arrested Collett just days after officers began investigating.

He is currently in the Denton County Jail, charged in two separate incidents with the same victim.

According to court records police in The Colony started  investigating April 13 after a 10-year-old girl told her parents what occured.

John Collett, a teacher at Camey Elementary School, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child, police said in a news release.

The child informed  her mother the assaults happened on April 5 and agian on April 12 during an after school club.

“she goes to Collett’s classroom after school” and  “he gives her a kiss goodbye then closes the door and leaves her in the classroom alone while” he attended to other duties.

When Collett returned on April 5, he inappropriately touched her, said the girl .

She told investigators that on April 12 “she sat on his lap, got a piece of candy, and fell asleep while on his lap because she was tired.”

The girl told officers she woke up and he touched her inappropriately.

The girl also informed  investigators that there was never anyone else in the after-school club and that they never did the club’s activity.
