Police will conduct a press conference to reveal new discoveries in the “Boy in the Box” investigation. This a decades-old cold case.

The Police commissioner in Philadelphia, Danielle Outlaw, and other detectives will speak on Thursday at 11 a.m. They will provide new information of the 1957 killing of a young boy that had gotten nationwide attention.

Authorities said that the boy, who was about 4-6 years old, had been beaten viciously, placed in a blanket in a box, on a road in Fox Chase.

For the past 65 years, very little leads have come about to assist authorities in identifying the child until Thursday when new details will be released.

The Vidoq society, experts at digging into cold cases, have pushed for more information using DNA technology and genealogy testing.

“Through hard work, investigational good luck, science, and the grace of God, we will put a name on that memorial,” said the Chief Science Officer for Vidoq.
