Pastor is Struck and Killed by Police Officer in Service Vehicle

A Connecticut church pastor was struck and killed by a police officer while crossing the street to get mail.

24-year-old Stamford Police Officer, Zachary Lockwood, was in his department-issued sport utility vehicle driving down the street at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

69-year-old Tommie Jackson, a well-known pastor in the area, was attempting to cross the street after retrieving mail from a mailbox.

According to reports, Officer Lockwood spotted Jackson and maneuvered his vehicle, swerving to not him. However, Jackson was struck with the police vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the Stamford Hospital.

The well-known pastor’s wife, Dorye Jackson, is one of five members of the Stamford Police Commission.
