21-year-old Jaheim Kemp, of Plano, Texas, was apprehended for the murder of 43-year-old Mohamadou Thera, an Uber driver and father of four from Sherman.
Thera had been discovered dead in the middle of the street on Wednesday morning on P Avenue, close to Barron Elementary School.
Authorities say that Thera had been shot in the head and was declared deceased at a medical facility.
On Thursday, Kemp was taken into custody and charged with murder.
A motive for the killing is unclear, but an investigation is continuing.
