President Trump Announces He Will Not Attend Biden’s Inauguration

President Donald Trump tweeted Friday that he would not be attending president elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Trump tweeted, “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”
He is not the first president to skip out on his successors inauguration.
John Adams, John Quincy Adams, and Andrew Johnson also skipped their successors inauguration.
During a rally Wednesday Trump encouraged supporters to March to the Capitol and protest, his refusal to accept the election results caused Trump supporters to swarm the U.S. Capitol and derail congressional proceedings Wednesday.
On Thursday in a video Trump said, “ We have just been through an intense election and emotions are high,” he said. “But now tempers must be cooled and calm restored. A new administration will be inaugurated on Jan. 20. My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation.”
