After making a career out of retail theft, Ernesha Atmore, of Tampa, Florida, will be imprisoned.

Atmore has been jailed many times before for stealing thousands of dollars worth of designer products. However, stricter laws in Florida have now gotten her 30 years in prison.

A few years ago, a theft that was captured on camera footage had occurred.

“She committed one of the most brazen thefts I’ve heard of. She went into a Sunglass Hut at International Plaza and had a soft-sided cooler, and she just scooped up about $20,000 in designer sunglasses. When the employee said, ‘What are you doing,’ she said, ‘I have a Taser.’ And, as you know, a Taser is a weapon,” said the state attorney.

A few days after that, authorities located a great amount of stolen goods in her vehicle.

Since she has repeated the same offense, Atmore is now looking at different consequences. Although prosecutors provided her with a 3-year deal, she rejected it. A jury has now found her guilty and sentenced her to 30 years in prison.

In the last few years, retail theft laws have gotten harsher in the state with upgrading charges from misdemeanors to felonies and adding more time to prison sentences.

However, before Atmore was placed in prison, she had two additional theft charges to settle, including stealing from a retail store where she took an $8,000 ring.

This resulted in an additional 6 months in prison. Atmore won’t be released until she is close to 60 years old.
