Eric Contreras had been preparing to celebrate his 23rd birthday with relatives.

However, investigators say that his father, 52-year-old David De Jesus Contreras, admitted to fatally shooting his son in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

A Ring camera recording depicts David Contreras talking to his wife outside of the residence following the shooting but prior to him being apprehended.

“Is he (Eric) alive? Is he breathing?” his wife questioned.

“He’s not breathing. He’s dead. The fighting on the way home was unbearable. It’s not your fault. Please call my brother,” David Contreras said emotionally while being recorded on the Ring camera video.

In November, David Contreras was arraigned. He pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder offense.

On November 3, the father had dialed 911. Police then arrived to the scene at his residence, at 10703 SW 84 Ave.

The matter was identified as a domestic violence case. The father was apprehended and placed in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where he was held without bond.

On November 5, prosecutors initiated the felony case against him.

On Thursday, David De Jesus Contreras was in court for a hearing to see if he would make bond for the capital felony.

A judge decided that he will continue to be held without bond until his next court appearance on March 11.
