48-year-old Derek W. Brown has been found guilty of stalking his former girlfriend. A jury in Houston then gave him a 35-year prison sentence.
Brown had been stalking the woman and harassing her family for more than 10 years. After hearing testimonies from witnesses, he received his punishment.
After being charged with stalking in 2011, the woman filed protective orders. In 2014, Brown was found guilty and was given a 5-year sentence in prison. Right after he was freed, he began to stalk the woman again.
Officials noted that if Brown remained free, the woman’s life would continue to be in danger.
