Three Pennsylvania police officers were charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of an 8-year-old girl as she exited a high school football game in 2021.

The shooting occurred outside of Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill at the end of a football game.

Angelo “AJ” Ford, 16, got into an argument with Hasein Strand, 19, a block away from the stadium. Their argument escalated and both men exchanged gunfire.

The three officers, Brian Devaney, Sean Dolan, and Devin Smith, were at the game helping people exit at the time when the officers heard the shots. The officers collectively returned fire shooting 25 times and striking 8-year-old Fanta Bility, killing her.

Originally, Ford and Strand were facing first degree murder charges, however; the district attorney recently announced they were no longer facing these charges.

“We have now concluded beyond a reasonable doubt that it was, in fact, shots from the officers that struck and killed Fanta Bility and injured three others,” Stollsteimer, the District Attorney, explained.

The three officers were arrested and charged for the 8 year old’s death and also for the three wounded bystanders. The bail was set at $500,000 for each of them, and preliminary court hearings have been set for Jan. 27.
