Wylie Police Arrest Alleged Child Predator After Student Comes Forward to School Counselor

5.5kviews

A Wylie man was arrested and charged with continuous sexual assault of a child after a school counselor contacted authorities.

Last Thursday, a Wylie ISD counselor immediately contacted the school’s resource officer to report sexual abuse following a student’s outcry.

Information provided to the officer was that there was potentially another child involved as well, so the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County was contacted for assistance.

Through their combined investigative work, authorities were able to determine that 40-year-old Cedric Johnson had continuous sexual contact with a child under 14 years old. Wylie Police Officers then located Johnson in a parking lot where he was detained and subsequently charged.

The second child, who’s also believed to be a victim, was located with Johnson at the time of his arrest.

Johnson is currently being held at the Collin County Detention Facility on charges of sexual assault of a child. His bond was set at $150,000.

The investigation continues as they work to determine if there are any other children involved.
