On July 1, 2021, officers were called to an apartment complex at 1515 Metrocrest Drive at about 3:00pm. Many people dialed 911 and said that a quarrel and shooting had transpired.
18 year-old Samuel Loyola was located in a breezeway with several gunshot injuries. He was transported to a local medical facility where he died from his wounds.
An investigation found that Loyola was in an argument with 20 year-old Eric Martinez prior to the shooting.
Two hours later, Martinez was apprehended at his apartment in Farmer’s Branch. At first, he was arrested for unrelated offenses. After obtaining more information, officers received a search warrant and charged Martinez with murder.
He is now awaiting a bond hearing while remaining in the Dallas County Jail.
