Christian Wood Received A $53 Million Deal After Former Girlfriend Broke Up With Him For Not Getting Drafted To The NBA

When Christian Wood wasn’t selected in the NBA draft in 2015, his girlfriend broke up with him.

Now, Wood is playing alongside Luka Doncic as the Dallas Mavericks’ center.

It all started when he had a breakout season with the Detroit Pistons in 2019-20. Then, he landed a 3-year, $53 million contract with the Houston Rockets, following that.

Wood credits his success to a change in mindset after a night that left him extremely disappointed. A picture revealing the sad era of when he was undrafted had gone viral. However, things have gotten a lot better for him since then.

The 27-year-old recently discussed the period in which his ex-girlfriend left their relationship behind after he failed to secure a spot in the NBA.

“I lost my girlfriend that night, too. I dropped her off at the airport after the draft and never saw her again,” he stated.

All that is in the past now, and Wood has accomplished much success since then, including playing in Dallas.

“I’m happy to be here. That’s what I’ll say. The vibe is good…I’m open to it.”

Wood has averaged 17.3 points, 8 rebounds, and .9 blocks each game this season, achieving his goals with the Mavericks.

  1. Howdy this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get advice
from someone with experience. Any help would
    be enormously appreciated!
