Reports have indicated that the Dallas County Jail is running out of room.

Officials say that the jail’s population has increased this summer to 97% of its capacity because of new case management software. They say that this has done great damage to the criminal justice system.

LaShonda Jefferson, the jail population manager, stated on Friday that there are 6,631 inmates. The jail is still in compliance with state guidelines; however, officials have begun to look for a jail to transport inmates to. These facilities could be in various counties, and it could costs millions of dollars.
