Lacravivonne Washington, 26, has surrendered to police and is now facing manslaughter charges in the death of her 3-year-old son in late March.

Washington had been out of jail on bail for other charges related to her child, Jalexus Washington.

On Wednesday, a new arrest warrant affidavit was released by Dallas police. It noted that Washington told her spouse that she was returning gunfire at a suspect during a road rage incident. She then discovered that Jalexus had been shot.

Authorities stated that there was no proof that a road rage incident happened. Instead, detectives say that Washington “recklessly killed Jalexus and has committed the offense of manslaughter.”

Last week, 27-year-old Jalexus Washington, Sr., the husband, was apprehended for tampering with evidence in relation to his son’s death.

On March 28, officers received a call from a hospital after Jalexus was taken to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his face.

During the investigation, Lacravivonne gave police several different stories of what happened. She told them that the 3-year-old had been shot in a road rage occurrence although there was no evidence.

Twenty minutes before the shooting the mother and son were seen at a donut shop in the 9400 block of Walnut Street in Dallas.

When authorities searched the mother’s car, one gun was located in the glove compartment. Another gun was found on the father, Washington Sr. He told detectives that his wife handed him the gun while they were at the hospital.

On March 30, Lacravivonne was apprehended on three counts of child endangerment and tampering with physical evidence. Four children were then removed from her residence.

Officials say that the mother has not been cooperating with the investigation.
