On Friday March 17, Dallas police responded to two shooting calls located on the 7400 block of S. Westmoreland Road.
Upon arrival they found 23 year old Jacory Simpson inside of a business. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
While investigating authorities also learned that another victim, 19 year old Donovan Jones, was also taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on March 18.
According to reports, Simpson was in the parking lot on March 17 where he got into an argument with 20 year old Cameron Cooks. Cooks then opened fire striking Simpson.
Apparently after the shooting Simpson spotted Jones in the parking lot, approached him and opened fire striking him.
Simpson then tried to flee the scene but ran into a local business for help. He remains hospitalized but has a murder and unlawful carrying of a weapon warrant for his arrest.
Cooks was arrested for Assault Serious Bodily Injury. He was transported to Dallas County Jail.
Dallas police are also investigating a shooting that injured four people on Saturday March 18 at a vigil.
Apparently friends and family were holding a vigil at the same location that Jones was fatally shot at the day before.
It was said someone in a white Chrysler drove by and opened fire into the crowd striking four people.
All four victims were transported to an area hospital where they are expected to make a full recovery.
I’m so glad the Mom and 2 others at the vigil are going to be ok. This story since it started has been sad, so much hate. Prayers for the families that lost their loved ones 🙏
Thank God the Mom is going to be ok. But not ok for loosing her son. Praying for all involved in this senseless situation. Praying for God to give the mother strength in these upcoming days and after. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
