A Dallas police officer has been hospitalized after undergoing surgery. He was shot overnight, and now, multiple suspects who were involved in the incident have been apprehended.
Early Thursday morning, at about 12:15 a.m., the shooting is said to have occurred. Multiple officers had been working an undercover operation. This was in the 3200 block of Easter Avenue in South Oak Cliff.
They had observed a vehicle driving recklessly and started to pursue that car.
Somebody in the fleeing vehicle fired at the unmarked police vehicle. One bullet then went through the driver’s side door, striking the officer in the hip.
The officer was transported to a medical facility.
At the same time, other officers kept pursuing the suspects with the assistance from a police helicopter.
Five suspects were later apprehended in the 7200 block of Chesterfield.
The injured police officer is now out of surgery at Methodist Medical Center and is in stable condition, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia stated.
“The investigation is ongoing. I will say that I did just have the opportunity to see our officer that just got out of surgery. He is in great spirits. I just tweeted out, the first question of his mouth was ‘did we catch him?’ That’s a warrior right there,” the chief stated.
Authorities did apprehend the suspects. However, a sixth one was able to evade arrest, and police are still looking for that individual.
Two of the five suspects that were apprehended had to be transported to a hospital. One stated that they were suffering from chest pain, and the other had non-life-threatening wounds.
If these trash bags would focus on running a successful business instead of criminal activities, they would probably suck at that too. Hope the officer recovers fully and can go home to their family.
