An elderly man’s decomposing body was found inside his Denton home after an investigation into his whereabouts was prompted by the Social Security Administration Office.
The Social Security Administration Office had not heard from the 103-year-old Denton man, who’d been collecting his social security, despite numerous attempts to contact him.
The administration believed the situation at hand was possibly the Exploitation of an Elderly or Disabled Person and contacted Denton County Detectives.
After looking into it, Investigators agreed to move forward and obtained a search warrant for the man’s residence, located in the 1500 block of Wellington Drive.
Once detectives entered the home they found the 103-year-old man dead inside. His body had been decomposing for what they believed to be years.
Two adults, male and female, were inside the potentially hazardous home at the time. They were both transported to the hospital for medical evaluations.
The Denton County Fire Department was called to the scene and eventually determined the home didn’t pose a risk to others in the neighborhood.
No charges have been filed at this time.
