54-year-old Anthony Adkinson, a DeSoto AAU track and field coach, has been charged with the online solicitation of a minor.

The incident unfolded after Adkinson sent a late night message to a 16-year-old girl. The girl’s father had her phone at the time and replied, acting as if he was his daughter.

Authorities say that after that, several concerning findings were discovered in the cell phone.

“This startled the dad, who was very upset, and brought it to our attention,” a public information officer for Balch Springs Police noted.

Records reveal that “Adkinson was asking for video recordings involving sexual acts from his daughter in exchange for money.”

“The parent also discovered that Adkinson had sent a sexually explicit image to his daughter,” it added.

Adkinson, also known as Coach A, was placed into the Dallas County Jail.

He is documented on the roster with the Junior Speedsters Track Club of DeSoto. He is not an employee of the DeSoto Independent School District.

Detectives say that Adkinson was the girl’s coach since she was 8-years-old.

As of now, the teen is undergoing forensic interviews and is receiving ongoing care from counselors.

Detectives are now focusing on Adkinson’s past.

“Anthony Adkinson has been a coach for about 30 years, and that is a very long time. In fact, I understand that there may be older individuals who have been under the guidance of coach, so we’re trying to see if there are any other victims out there,” one investigator noted.

Authorities urge any other possible victims to contact them.

“It doesn’t matter how long it’s been, contact your local agency, notify them.”

The matter is ongoing, and Adkinson’s bond was set at $25,000.
