Ex Arlington Officer Indicted After Killing Sleeping Woman While Trying To Shoot A Dog

An ex Arlington police officer was indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury after he killed a sleeping woman while aiming at a dog.
Ravi Singh was called out to perform a welfare check near Canton Rd and North Collins St on a woman that was seen lying in the grass on August 1,2019.
While performing the check Singh says he saw an unrestrained dog barking and running toward him.
That’s when he pulled out his gun and shot multiple rounds at the dog.
The woman screamed out she had been hit and he immediately tried to render aid.
The woman was later identified as Maggie Brooks,30, the daughter of the Arlington fire captain.

The dog was grazed and taken to an Arlington animal shelter to be checked out.
Singh resigned shortly after the incident.
Singh surrendered to Tarrant County police and booked in jail.
He is facing charges of criminally negligent homicide.
If convicted he could face up to 2 years in prison.
