A fire at a Dallas Highland Hills apartment complex left four firefighters and four civilians injured Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a call on the 5700 block of Highland Hills Dr.
Upon arrival officials learned there was an explosion at the complex that left almost 300 residents displaced.

At least four firefighters were transported to an area hospital, in which one has since been released.
Four residents were also taken to an area hospital with their condition unknown.

The office of emergency management is working on resources for the residents and Red Cross has set up a site at the Tommie M. Allen Recreation Center.

All units will be thoroughly inspected before residents can return and the unit where the explosion occurred will be demolished.

City Manager T.C. Broadnax said “I am proud of the work by Dallas Fire Rescue while still in the midst of a pandemic, we are working with all appropriate authorities to provide area hotels starting Wednesday evening.”
