Around 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a drowning child in the lake.

“While en route, deputies were informed that the father had tried to locate and rescue his son,” police reported. “Witnesses saw the father struggling before losing sight of him as well. Several bystanders entered the water to help but were unsuccessful.”

The search and recovery efforts involved the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office Marine Units, Mineral Volunteer Fire, Lake Anna Volunteer Rescue, the Department of Wildlife Resources, and Spotsylvania County Fire & EMS Dive Team divers.
