On Sunday, a mother in Michigan was struck and killed by an out-of-control car while saving her 2-year-old daughter’s life at a drag racing event.

33-year-old Kadie Price was in the crowd with her relatives, at Silver Lake State Park Sand Dunes, when a 1980 Jeep CJ lost control and went off the racing strip. This was prior to hitting another car, authorities say.

The other car, that had been sitting still at the time, hit Price right after she had pushed her daughter out of the way.

Although multiple people went to offer assistance, Price was unable to be saved.

The driver of the Jeep has been identified as a 64-year-old man. His name has not been released at this time.
