Five People Shot And Wounded During Trail Ride In East Texas

Early Sunday morning, five people were shot and wounded as an outdoor event took place in East Texas. It included a trail ride, authorities say.

Around 12:35 a.m., the Smith County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding several people who had been shot in a big field area in the eastern section of the county.

Unified Elite Riderzz, from Marshall, Texas, provided trail rides where many people participated.

Witnesses told authorities that after a fight transpired close to the stage, one or more trail ride groups began firing into the crowd.

The sheriff’s office stated that after the first shooting, people went to security to get their guns back that they had checked in. Then, two more shootings occurred.

Detectives think that all those who were wounded were a part of the first shooting.

Four people received medical treatment at a hospital and were then released. One other person is still in the hospital in serious but stable condition.

An investigation is continuing.
