Although it had been rumored that NFL player Mike Williams, 36, had died, it has now been reported that he is on life support at a medical facility in Florida.

Tierney Lyle, the mother of Williams’s child, has said that she and their daughter had gone to see Williams at the hospital where he was mostly non-reponsive. She added that the next steps were to take Williams off of life support even though that has yet to occur.

It was first reported that Williams, an ex-NFL receiver and the Offensive Rookie of the Year runner-up in 2010, had died following a recent accident at a construction site. A GoFundMe created by his relatives noted that Williams experienced an extensive head injury a couple of days ago when a steel beam fell on him. This is said to have led to him being paralyzed in his right arm and lower body, from the waist down.

Williams played for the Bucs for three seasons in Tampa prior to being traded to the Bills in 2014. The ex-Syracuse star ended his career with 3,089 receiving yards and 26 receiving touchdowns in 63 total games.
