Governor Greg Abbott of Texas says that there won’t be any required gender-neutral toy aisles in the state while he is in office.

On Sunday, California Gov. Newsom’s Assembly Bill 1084, which mandates big retailers to keep gender natural toy aisles starting in 2024, was responded to by Abbott. The bill also talks about childcare necessities, including items for child development.

Abbott tweeted that it is essential that companies are not governed by government entities.

“Not in Texas. In Texas, it is businesses-NOT-government.- that decide how they display their merchandise,” his message read.

Some people who disagree with the governor also tweeted. One person wrote, ” So inanimate objects have a gender? Do you realize that by assigning toys to “boys” or “girls” that you’re taking a step toward shaming children for exploring their interests?”

Others agreed with Abbott. ” If some parents want “gender natural” toys for their kids, let them search them out…,” one user tweeted.
