Kentucky Mother Arrested After 10 Year Old Son Found Dead In Her Car Trunk

A Kentucky mother was arrested Tuesday after police found her 10 year olds son dead in her trunk.
According to reports officers were called to the 1200 block of Algonquin Parkway Tuesday night around 9:30pm to perform a welfare check.
The caller told authorities that they saw Kaitlyn Renee Higgins,28 with a handgun and later carrying her deceased son wrapped in a blanket outside.
When officers arrived they found Higgins on the front porch along with what they believed to be drops of blood.
Officers believed exigency existed, which prompted them to check the trunk of Higgins vehicle.
There they found the boy deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot.
According to authorities, Higgins then gave a post mirandized statement saying she attempted to cut her sons tongue out of his mouth before shooting and placing him in the trunk of her vehicle.
Higgins was placed under arrest and charged with murder, domestic violence and tampering with physical evidence. Her bond is set at $250,000.
