Daniel Otto, a 26 year-old lifeguard, discovered 41 pounds of marijuana stuffed in a life vest. It had washed onshore at Golden Sands Beach Park in Vero Beach, Florida on October 23.
Otto disclosed to officials that when he took the vest out of the water, it felt “usually heavy.” He said that initially he was going to throw the vest in the trash but decided to cut it open on one side. That’s when he found the six packages of drugs inside of the vest’s foam section.
The case has now been closed.
