Justice Is Served! Former South Carolina police officer Michael Slager shot and killed Walter Scott April 4, 2015. Slager who is white pleaded not guilty during the 2016 murder trial of Walter Scott (black) claiming he was in fear for his life. The 2016 trial resulted in a mistrial. Slager was recently sentenced to 19-24 years in prison for the brutal shooting of unarmed Walter Scott. After several days of testimony Judge Norton ruled second-degree murder and obstruction to justice. Norton sentenced Slager to 19-24 years in prison. The mother of Walter Scott looked the former officer in the eye and told him she forgives him. Justice has finally been served for Walter Scott and his family.
