Yvonne Wu, a 31 year-old police officer from New York, shot her ex-lover and killed the woman’s new girlfriend. The incident occurred Wednesday evening.
When authorities arrived on scene, Wu was patiently waiting for them. She confirmed that someone had been shot inside the home. Wu was then apprehended.
The officers located 24 year-old Jaime Liang lying on the floor with an injury to her chest when they went into the dwelling. The former girlfriend, 23, was on the floor, as well, with a gunshot wound to the torso.
Both women were transported to a hospital where Liang succumbed to her injuries. The former girlfriend was in serious but stable condition.
Officials think that Wu was already in the residence when the victims came home, but it is unclear how she gained access. The former couple had dated for two years before their break up three weeks prior.
A weapon was recovered at the location.
