Officer Arrested After Lying About A Hit-And-Run In Police Vehicle

1.8kviews

Louisiana State Police have stated that one of their officers has been apprehended for untruthfully reporting that he had been involved in a hit-and-run in Orleans Parish. However, an investigation revealed that the trooper, himself, had wrecked the police car in St. Tammany Parish the day prior to that.

Back in September, police say that Lt. Chad Lacoste, who has been with the department for 19 years, made the claims that he had been in the hit-and-run and submitted a police report.

But, police say that evidence and damage to the car revealed that he really wrecked the unmarked police car. He then drove off. It isn’t known if another car was involved in the accident.

Lacoste has been charged with Malfeasance in Office and Injuring Public Records. He has now been put on administrative leave.
