Authorities from the Miami-Dade Police Department stated that one of their officers was violently attacked and punched. Furthermore, he was beaten even after he was left unconscious.

The incident was caught on surveillance footage. It happened on Tuesday night by a suspect who was being placed in jail at police headquarters.

At 7:45 p.m., the suspect was fingerprinted, and the officer, who hasn’t been identified, gave him several commands that he didn’t adhere to. After the suspect wouldn’t cooperate, he was “backed into a corner inside a room.”

The assailant has been identified as 32-year-old Nestor Rodriguez and hasn’t been charged as of yet. He was initially detained after allegedly threatening a man with a knife. He was in possession of a knife and wouldn’t respond when questioned by police.

The officer, who had cuts to his face, was treated at a hospital and released on Wednesday.
