The Center for Disease Control and Prevention say people with asthma may be at a higher risk of getting sick from the COVID-19 virus.
The COVID-19 can affect the respiratory tract causing an asthma attack and officials say it may even cause pneumonia and acute respiratory disease.
Although there isn’t a treatment or vaccine for the disease at this time officials say the best way to prevent the illness is to avoid becoming exposed to this virus.
Just a few steps you can take to prevent the virus is keep your hands and everything around you sanitized and avoid sharing personal items.
You can also avoid large crowds and try to stay home as much as possible.
CDC also says people should have an asthma action plan for the COVID-19 virus and should make sure they take all their medications and know how to use an inhaler properly.
If you have any symptoms you should contact your health care provider immediately.
