Police Officer Darrell Crowder, a 49 year-old from Parkin, Arkansas, has been arrested. This comes after being accused of permitting inmates to purchase beer and cigarettes from a nearby gas station.

On October 7, Crowder transported two inmates from Cross County Detention Center to court. When their court hearing was over, Crowder didn’t immediately take them back to the jail. Instead, they stopped by a relative’s home, of one of the inmates, and collected money.

He then let the two inmates buy cigarettes, beer, and tobacco at a gas station, with handcuffs and uniforms on.  Afterwards, they were allowed to smoke and drink in the vehicle as they traveled back to the jail.

Crowder has been charged with furnishing prohibited articles and impairing operations of vital public facility.
