It has been alleged that the Rickey Smiley Morning Show has been cancelled due to “loss of syndication” in Dallas.
We are not sure what else took place but we do know that he will not be on the Morning Show anymore and will be replaced by Veda Loca in the Morning.
Rickey Smiley does have his own radio app that’s running successfully so maybe it was a power move.
We are still looking into the situation and will update you with the latest info as the situation evolves.

Veda is so annoying. I literally have to tune her out during the afternoon and switch to K104. The Rickey Smiley Morning Show meant more than you know to DFW area. I get so sick of these know it all Executives that sit in their office all day looking at numbers, thinking that is the answer to everything. This show should have never been cancelled. I’m happy for Vida’s promotion and all, but this was a big mistake. Perhaps that should have just added Vida to Rickey’s team or something. Somebody is not thinking right at 97.9 the beat!!!! The have lost me as a morning listener. Steve Harvey will be getting my ears in the morning. This is truly sad.
I was working nights when the changed happened. I come back to mornings and now turn on my radio on my way to work and no Rickey. What the…? Longest ride to work in years. I use to say that I wanted Vida to replace Gary because he is annoying to me. Little did I know that she would replace the whole dog on show. Oh well, I like Vida, but The Rickey Smiley Morning Show was the total package. Still can’t listen to K104’s ghetto morning show.
Vida Loca voice is annoying as hell. Who is there right mind wants to listen to her obnoxious voice in the morning on your way to work. Not interested! Bad move! Reconsider!

I wish her the best, but Veda Loca is not for me. I’ll definitely miss Rickey and the crew doing live interviews, prank calls, praise break, and talking to the celebrities in the “upper room.” Shoot, I was never fond of paternity test Tuesday but I’d listen to that segment all week if we could get Rickey back on the air. If he was indeed cancelled the execs may have made a bad decision; I don’t have the facts to have a say. BUT I know that replacing him with Veda Loca was definitely a mistake.
It’s been months since I’ve listened to the radio, and I tried to this morning… Lord… I CAN’T!!! Veda’s voice is deafening just like the other chicks on K104!! which lost me as a listener when they got rid of Skip Murphy and Co. and now 97.9 has done this foolishness!! I spent 30 min flipping back and forth between the two stations to see which one was worst and I’ve come to the sad conclusion that they are both ghetto doo doo!! The worst types of female voices and the topics, games, and contests are even stupid or just plain boring! Not only that, but Veda is dumb as hell. Today I think she made up 3 new words in a matter of minutes. I’m 99% certain that Rickey Smiley’s admonishment of Jerry Jones is what did him in. His ratings had to have been better than k104! Pandora it is!!
I really love the Rickey Smiley Morning show. I’m a native of Dallas and went through all this radio transitions from the Tom Joyner morning show, Skip Murphy & Co, The Oasis and others but this ONE really hurt, but you can’t stop him, though….I downloaded the RICKET SMILEY app and haven’t lost a beat!!! Once you start listening you can’t stop til the end of the show…The whole team brings variety to the listens…Let Rickey be himself. SO WHAT He’s controversial, it’s his opinion….you can’t keep a God fearing man down….God has open doors for this guy….Hats off to you Man!!!
