On Wednesday, a high speed chase resulted in a multi-car crash in Jones County, Texas.

Just prior to 7 a.m., authorities began pursuing the vehicle in the city of Tye after the silver Kia hadn’t pulled over.

The suspect traveled at a high speed, more than 100 mph, and driving on both sides of the highway to get away from troopers.

After stopping briefly, the suspect and officer talked before the suspect got back into his car and took off again.

A little while later, the suspect crashed on Hwy 277. He had attempted to cross onto the service road but ran into two or three other cars.

22-year-old Jacobe Johnson, from Arlington, Texas, has been identified as the driver. His passenger, 27-year-old Aaron Rattler, from Garland, was taken to a medical facility after the crash but died from his injuries related to the incident.

Johnson has now been charged with evading arrest or detention in a vehicle.

Other charges are expected as the investigation is on-going.
