Shooting Leaves One Man Dead; Female Suspect Arrested in Ellis County

A woman has been arrested after fatally shooting Aaron in the chest Tuesday afternoon in the Red Oak, Texas area.

Around 3:40 p.m. officers responded to a shooting call on the 300 block of Josey Lane. The caller, 33 year old Barry Blake Morgan, told 911 dispatch that Holly Brook Daughtery shot him and fled the scene in a red sedan.

At 3:48 p.m. The Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol spotted the sedan at West Red Oak Rd and North Main Street. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and identified the woman as Daughtery.

While searching the vehicle deputies found a handgun in the passenger seat. Daughtery was detained.

Officers that were responding to the shooting call arrived at the scene to find Morgan unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest. Ellis County Justice of the Peace pronounced Morgan dead at the scene.

His body has been transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.

After investigating and speaking with witnesses and gathering evidence authorities arrested Daughtery for murder.

She was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center with a $1,000,000 bond.
