Student Shot At South Carolina Middle School, Fellow Classmate Arrested

A South Carolina student was shot Thursday afternoon at a middle school and another student was arrested.

Officers responded to a shooting call, around 12:30 p.m., at Tanglewood Middle School.

Upon arrival they found the victim, Jamari Cortez Bonaparte Jackson, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to an area hospital with his condition unknown.

According to reports, the school resource officer contacted police for backup at the school.

More than 200 officers arrived to the scene and the school was evacuated.

The suspect left the school before officers could arrive but was arrested nearby.

Investigators are working to determine what led up the shooting inside the school.

The shooters name has not been released due to his age.

The investigation remains ongoing.
