42-year-old James Byrd has been charged with online solicitation of a minor after chatting with detectives on the platform Whisper.
Authorities in North Richland Hills say that a detective pretended to be a 15-year-old girl, and Byrd had initiated a chat with her. He is said to have agreed to meet the teen in North Richland Hills.
Police say that Byrd was a teacher in the Bastrop Independent School District in Austin.
