Troopers Seized Over $5.5 Million Worth Of Cocaine

Louisiana State Troopers seized over $5.5 million worth of cocaine during a routine traffic stop Monday night.

Louisiana Troopers pulled over a 2005 Peterbilt 387 going eastbound on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parrish.

During the traffic stop officers asked to search the vehicle. When granted permission they found 55 kilograms of suspected cocaine.

Officers then arrested Michael Contreras, 32 and Pedro Sarante, 40, both men were from New York.

Both were booked into St. Tammany Parrish jail.

The street value of the cocaine found was worth over $5.5 million.

Troopers have followed up with Homeland Security and the case has been referred to federal authorities.
