Update: Houston mother, LaPorsha Washington, revealed new details about the shooting on Sunday morning that killed her daughter Jazmine Barnes.
A mother and her four daughters were going to get coffee Sunday morning from Joe V’s. The family were just passed the Walmart when the vehicle pulled alongside them. Jazmine, 7, and her mother were both shot.
LaPorsha Washington told ABC 13 about the last moments they had with Jazmine.
“As I turned around and looked back at the street, I heard shots start firing and they came through my window, broke my glass, and hit me in my arm. They sped off in front of us and the truck slowed down and continued to fire as he was in front of us. It was not fair. It was not fair. He intentionally killed my child for no reason. He didn’t even know her, he didn’t know who she was.”
One of her Washington’s daughters witnessed a heartbreaking tragedy.
“She said, ‘Momma, Jazmine’s not moving. She’s not talking.’ I turned around and my 7-year-old was shot in the head.”
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office looking for any residents in the area by the East Sam Houston Parkway around Wallisville road that have surveillance videos to help get a lead to Jazmine’s killer.

Detectives are investigating the motive of the shooting and if it was random or targeted.

Laporsha, My heart goes out to you. If only I could take your pain away! I want you to know that Jazmine was beautiful and you have conveyed on TV what a joyous and happy child she was. I do not know you or your family, but I do care. No child deserves to be taken from this earth, especially at such a young age, and no mother should have to endure this unnecessary, unfathamable pain. I pray that at this time of grief God literally wraps his arms around you in comfort. That he gives you the peace and assurance for you to know that Jazmine is with him in his arms, safe and away from any further harm. My child was shot right down the road from Walmart! It happened January 2018! He was 17 yrs old at the time. He has recovered physically but the area is out of control! Something needs to be done! No one is safe in that area anymore!?
