Update: Suspect Deceased After Fatally Shooting 4 People, Including One Year Old Child, On Royce Dr. In Dallas

Dallas police have identified the suspect in connection with a deadly shooting on December 3 that left four people dead and one injured.

Around 4 p.m. officers responded to a shooting call on the 9700 block of Royce Dr.

Upon arrival they found Jose Lopez, 50, Karina Lopez, 33 and Vanessa DeLaCruz, 20 deceased at the scene. They also located a 15 year old girl and a 1 year old boy suffering from a gunshot wound.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital where the one year old died from his injuries and the teen was treated for minor injuries and released.

While investigating authorities determined that 21 year old Byron Carillo was responsible for the deadly shooting.

Carillo was wearing an ankle monitor for an aggravated assault charge back in 2021. At some point, he cut off his ankle monitor, fled the scene and stole a car.

Authorities later spotted the suspect in the Austin area and attempted to pull him over.

Carillo led officers on a chase before crashing the vehicle into a ditch and trying to flee on foot.

When officers tried to approach Carrillo he shot himself in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Texas Rangers are investigating the death in custody.

The homicide investigation still remains ongoing.
