28-year-old Joshua Johnson is being held in custody for first-degree murder. This comes after a teenage girl was discovered dead at a Walgreens in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Johnson and Riley Whitelaw, 17, were both employees at the store. She had previously told managers that he had made her feel uncomfortable, arrest documents note.

Close to 6:55 p.m., on Saturday, authorities received a call from a manager after discovering a deceased body in the breakroom of the store. It was added that the room was covered in blood, reports state.

Last year, Whitelaw told a manager that Johnson had made advances toward her, and she didn’t feel at ease. She asked to be granted a different schedule than Johnson so that she wouldn’t have to be around him. However, when she wanted more hours, their schedules would sometimes overlap.

Documents state that prior to the killing, Johnson piled up boxes in front of  surveillance cameras so his actions couldn’t be seen. He also covered the windows to the breakroom with paper and hung up a closed bathroom door sign, close by.

A patron of the store told authorities that she heard a woman screaming and slamming noises of stalls.

Later, the Colorado State Patrol found  Johnson walking along Interstate 25, nearly 100 miles away. He had visible scratches and bruises on his face and was apprehended.

Johnson told police that he had fallen into blood in the breakroom and was attacked. He stated that he went to his residence to wash the blood off of his clothes after that.

Although recordings captured Johnson piling up the boxes in front of cameras, he denied it.

He admitted to having a crush on Whitelaw but said that was in the past. A manager told police that Johnson appeared to be jealous when Whitelaw’s boyfriend recently began working at the store.

An investigation is on-going.
