Two people are dead and one injured after a gunman opened fire inside an Alabama church Thursday evening.
According to reports, the incident happened around 6:22 p.m. at the Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church located at 3775 Crosshaven Drive.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and the other was transported to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The church was having a “Boomers Potluck” when the gunman walked into the church and opened fire. The suspect shot multiple people before officers arrived.
Vestavia Hills Police have the suspect in custody and have not released their identity.
Authorities are working to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
This shooting investigation remains ongoing.
